Assignment 7 ♥ Questions For Chapters 6♥7♥8♥9

Chapter 6

1. They were shot and killed.
2. He started off with stomach cramps, then they got so bad that he couldn't go anymore that he undid his pants and just fell to the ground. Eliezer does not know if he was finished off by an SS or if he was trampled by everyone running.
3. He realized that this terrible occasion was changing men. Rabbi Eliahou's son had seen that his father was growing weak and he did not bother on trying to help him. Elie swore to himself that he would help his father no matter what.
4. He played his violin, playing the song of his life.
5. He ran after him and caused a commotion in which he and his father switched to the healthy side along with other men.

Chapter 7

1. He kept shouting and slapping him convinced that it was not yet time for him to die, and that they could not throw him out of the train. He continued this until his father awoke.
2. In this scene Elie sees that a son killed his own father for a piece of bread even though his father and saved him a piece. The son later dies after he is beat up for the same piece of bread.
3. Only 12 people had gotten off of the cattle car; They had arrived in Buchenwald.

Chapter 8

1. Instead of Elie's father taking care of him like in the beginning Elie is now staying strong for the both of them.
2. They beat Elie's dad because they could not stand him any longer because he no longer could drag himself outside to relieve himself.
3. Elie thought that he was right, though deep down he could not leave his father to die.

Chapter 9

1. All Jews were ordered to go outside. Everyone was excited because they thought that Hitler had kept his promise.
2. All Jews went back to their blocks. Almost everyone stayed there but others were evacuated. On April 10 many armed men just started to shoot because the rest of evacuations had been postponed. Many Jews were killed until noon.
3. They threw themselves onto the provisions. They thought not of revenge or of parents but only of bread.
4. He saw a corpse contemplating him. This means that he was looking up and down at himself as if he was checking himself out. EXAMPLE: The way Fernie looks at Danny.

Assignment 6: Chapter 4 & 5 questions

Chapter 4



1. They checked if they were capable to work, but also to see if they had gold teeth if so the would pull them out.

2. Beethoven was German.

3. If anyone were to cross him while he was angry he would take his anger out on them.

4. He continuously said that he had a fever and that he would return when he was better.

5. A french girl who passed for Aryan, though he was not sure if she was Jew or not.

6. When Elie said that he would not give him his crown, Franek knew that his father could not keep count in his head while marching so every little mistake that Elie's father made he would beat him up. After a while Elie gave in so he let Franek take out his crown with a rusted spoon. A week later Franek was transferred to another camp.

7. All men are sent to a room that have to bowls left with soup. Then a man dares to start drinking it. Everyone is jealous but once the Americans start bombing he dies.

8. "They're expecting trouble." He knew that the Germans were afraid that if 1 Jew did something the rest of them would soon follow.

9. It was very painful to watch two men and a little boy being hanged. The men died quickly but since the little boy was thin he died very slowly.


Chapter 5

1. His father had forbidden him, and also because he no longer accepted God's silence. He swallowed his ration in symbol protesting against him.

2. Run ass if the devil was in your hells, and the most important, don't be afraid." Run so that they wouldn't see his number.

3. He thought that his time alive was coming to an end, therefore he started to give Elie his possessions.

4. He asked that all men gather and say a kaddish for him but they didn't do it.

5. His foot was stating to swell it either had to be amputated or operated on.

6. The Russians were coming.

7. It was liberated 2 days after the evacuation.

Assignment 5


In this timeline you read on how they killed most jews and how many jews and non- jews each concetration camp killed.


1941- they began using gassing vans to kill people easier.

1942- The Jewish genocide went into full operation. There was no selection process; Jews were destroyed upon arrival.

Answers

1. It means that they realized what was going to happen to them just a little to late. The train was already at another town, a different border, they had no where to go. They could not escape.

2. Madame Schater kept saying that she saw a fire during the night.

3. They struck her until she finally fell quiet.

4. The train finally stopped in Birkenau.

1. He lied because one of the inmates told him that it would be better for him.
2. He saw babies being thrown into the pit to be burned.
3. He meant that no matter how much he tries he will never forget these horrible memories that made him lose faith in the a Lord by him thinking that the Lord planned this for them.
4. He changed because when he saw that his father got hit he did not defend him.
5. He feels a bit happier because he hears that is is better than Birkenau.
6. They would shower them with hot water and gasoline.
7. They would tattoo them with numbers and letters. After that they no longer had a name.
8. He was being to friendly to the prisoners.
9. They would only get one meal a day which was soup and stale bread.
10. Throw his own father into the crematorium.
